De Kelders is the best natural land based whale watching area in the world for Southern Right Whales as they return to Walker Bay each year in greater numbers from July to December. Walk the elevated De Kelders cliff path and witness the whales playing with the kelp (seaweed), sailing, lobtailing, spyhopping, mating or breaching in Walker Bay. Or watch the whales from your room, private terrace or from the upstairs pool deck (more whale watching information here…).
Gansbaai is known as the "Great White Shark capital of the world". One of the densest known populations is found around Dyer Island, off Gansbaai where much shark research is conducted (see Wikipedia). You can dive with Great White Sharks in a specially designed shark cage … read more about shark cage diving in Gansbaai.

The lasting impression left by De Kelders, near Gansbaai on those who are fortunate enough to find this almost secret spot is of a delightfully rural and unspoiled gem. A place still largely undiscovered by tourists and a nature lover's dream. |
